02 Jan 09 Mozy And Business Macs Conjoin

Mozy has been a reliable data back up service for some time and it has now moved on to business Macs. EMC’s Mozy launched an online backup service in beta for businesses that run Apple Mac servers, desktops, and notebooks. There are a number of different features that are quite appealing about this service.

MozyPro intended for Mac builds on the company’s consumer edition of the service that is called MozyHome for Mac. This new version allows businesses using Mac OS X or Windows machines to manage backup and restore processes from a single, Web-based administration console.

In addition to this, MozyPro also provides you with 24-hour phone support. This way if you are having any problems or complications with the service, you will quickly receive assistance in addressing the problems.

This new system makes it much easier for businesses using OS X and Windows to manage backups for all of their computers from a single place. With an increase in the use of the Mac among small businesses, this was a huge step for EMC’s Mozy.

The goal is to move closer toward assisting small businesses, the creative industry and the education market with data backup services. All of these industries have been strong for Apple and EMC’s Mozy hopes to continue this.

In July of 2008, Apple reported a 41 percent increase in Mac shipments. This shows that Mac sales are increasing greatly with all of their advances in notebook sales and desktops. Apple has even become the third-largest PC maker in the United States, which reflects their high expectations for the future.

MozyPro for Mac beta supports a number of different systems. This allows compatibility with whatever Mac computer you have. Some of the systems it does support include Mac OS X and OS X Server 10.4 or higher. In addition, it works with Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Window Server 2000 and 2003.

The Mozy data backup service is extremely cost efficient. The overall price costs $6.95 per license plus 50 cents per gigabyte a month for your computer. This makes it so virtually anyone can enjoy the numerous features EMC’s Mozy has for the business Mac.  There is no question that Mozy knew what they were doing when teaming up with Apple’s powerful Mac.

13 Dec 08 Google’s Chrome Browser Combines Simplicity With Sophistication

It’s handy having many features to choose from with your web browser. However, too many buttons and tabs can often become confusing. With Google’s chrome browser, you will find simplicity yet sophistication in every detail.

Google’s browser has a simple design that is minimal compared to other internet browsers. But with its refined technology, it will make your browser much faster, safer and easier to run.

Eliminating the clutter at the top of your page, Google has made it so you can search the web, search your history, and receive suggestions as you type—all through one unified box. This single box will work for all of your browsing needs. No longer is there a need to click on several different tabs to find what you want.

Each time you’d like to open a new tab, you will see a visual sampling of your most visited sites. In the case that you want to return to one of these sites, it’s extremely easy to quickly make your way there. In addition, there will be a sampling displayed of your most used search engines, your recently closed tabs, and your bookmarked pages.

Similar to quickly opening your most visited sites, there is also an application tool. The application shortcut tool can directly load your favorite online applications without your having to search for them again.

A tool that is fairly new to many web browsers is the dynamic tabs tool. This allows you to drag tabs out of the browser so you can create new windows. You will also be able to gather multiple tabs, work with them simultaneously—all while arranging your tabs however you choose to.

The fear for some people with running multiple tabs at once is that if one crashes they will all crash. With crash control, you can be rest assured that if one tab crashes the rest will remain running. Each tab is run independently.

Something you probably fear even more is entering an unsafe website. Every day more and more unsafe web sites are appearing on the internet. The Google Chrome browser will warn you if you are about to visit a suspected phishing, malware, or other kind of unsafe website. This is beneficial in protecting your internet and your overall computer from picking up a virus.

The Google Chrome browser is certainly one worth looking into. Although the overall design may not seem overly impressive, the features are versatile and handy.

05 Dec 08 The 5 Best Instant Messengers You Want To Get Your Hands On

Since first being introduced, instant messengers have been a hit. They allow you to immediately chat with family, friends and even co-workers about whatever you want. As the internet has evolved, more and more programs have surfaced. Here’s a look at the five best instant messengers today:

1. Digsby

Despite being one of the youngest instant messengers on the internet, Digsby is certainly one of the top candidates out there. This instant messenger has all of the IM networks as well as your email and social networking included. This means you have MySpace and Facebook right there available for you to look at. Although it is currently just a Windows application, it is working to include Mac and Linux versions.

2. Pidgin

This cross-platform IM client has a huge following for Windows and Linux users. In 2007, it was estimated to have over 3 million users. This program is open and extensible, meaning you can add your own features and tools by simply installing a plug-in. This makes it extremely convenient and adaptable to your style.

3. Meebo

Meebo is by far the most popular web-based chat application. It accommodates support for all of the popular chat networks, video and voice chat, and even includes an iPhone interface. However, its top feature is the ability to work anywhere you are no matter what system you are using. This makes it a highly versatile program.

4. Adium

This IM application puts Apple’s iChat to shame. It is extremely customizable, extensible with plug-ins, and will work across all of your favorite IM networks. This IM application is comparable to Pidgin, but is intended for Mac OS X.

5. Trillian

Trillian at one time was the IM application for cross-network instant messaging. It has lost a lot of users because of the newer and fresher applications out there today.  However, the Trillian Astra is said to be a highly modified version of the original and there is said to be a Trillian Mac version coming out soon.

Instant messaging is entertaining, fun, and provides you with a number of options to suit your needs. Just as the internet has evolved greatly, so too have the various IM applications available to choose from.

02 Dec 08 Final part - What To Ask Yourself Prior To Purchasing Banner Advertising For Your Business

As for the content, be sure to use a font that is clear and readable. The more difficult the ad is for people to read, the less chance you have of reeling them into your business. People should be able to easily read your ad from a distance and still be drawn in.

When it comes to the design and graphics, you have to find the balance between bland and over-the-top. You want the design to be creative and enticing. You can create intriguing graphics and even throw in some bright colors. But be careful about going overboard as this will just downgrade the professional look of your ad.

Who would have ever thought so much goes into creating a banner ad for your local advertising online? There is much more to it than just throwing together an ad quickly and increasing your traffic drastically. Before creating your next ad, ask yourself to consider the points listed in this article.

28 Nov 08 What To Ask Yourself Prior To Purchasing Banner Advertising For Your Business

Banner advertising has proven to be an effective local online advertising method for businesses. It allows you to get your message across without subjecting viewers to pages and pages of content. Creating a banner ad, however, is not as easy as it may seem. There are a few things you’ll want to ask yourself prior to purchasing and designing your ad.

The first thing you want to be clear on is how much money you are willing to spend. Banner ads can vary in price greatly depending on what you put into the ad and how large it is. If you are just looking to generate more traffic but do not have much money to spend, you may want to think about a smaller ad.

Part of determining the price will be deciding how large you want your ad to be.  If you are on a budget, you may not have a choice as to the size of the ad. If money is not an issue, you’ll still want to take into consideration what is too big and what is too small. Obviously, you want your local advertising online to stand out from the rest of the competition. But how much is too much?

One of the most difficult decisions behind creating your banner ad is whether you want to focus on text or graphics. You probably do not want to go with just graphics or just text as a combination of the two is best. But there is nothing wrong with focusing more on one or the other.

15 Nov 08 How To Keep Your Blog Syndicated With RSS

Having an RSS feed on your blog can do wonders for the amount of traffic you receive and the types of return visitors you see. A feed reader will allow your blog visitors access to new content. And instead of making them come to your site constantly to look for new content, they will have easy access to new posts from your blog.

Jared Lansky, online marketing specialist, feels “Not syndicating your blog with RSS can be a huge mistake. Many people today use these types of feeds to keep up with their favorite blogs and the comments that are being made. By not syndicating your blog, you are simply eliminating a large readership base.”

Before going into further details, it is essential to understand what an RSS feed is. This type of feed allows online content distribution. Although it can be read through a plain text file, it is meant to be accessed through an RSS feed reader.

Publishing your blog feed depends on the type of blogging platform you have.  WordPress is a terrific blogging platform because it automatically syndicates your posts for you. If you do not have a platform with such capabilities, there are several different plug-ins you can purchase to syndicate your blog.

Syndicating your RSS blog feeds is one thing, but you want to take full advantage of this amazing tool. In order to do so, you’ll want to get a feed burner. A feed burner allows you to do a number of things including view detailed stats as your feed is read, have readers easily subscribe to your feed, and format your feed for all directories.

In addition to all this, a feed burner gives you the chance to completely customize your blog. You can customize your feed in a number of ways including adding ads and filling your feed with enticing graphics.

The main reason you want to burn a feed however is to keep the server running as fast as possible. Without burning a feed, readers will be reading your feed from your webhost.  If there are a lot of people reading, the server is going to make reading the posts extremely slow.

There are a lot of benefits to syndicating your RSS feeds on your blog. Although it is a fairly simple process, it is important you understand clearly what you are doing. Take the tips and information in this article into consideration as you look to improve your blog.

04 Nov 08 Is Banner Advertising Effective Local Advertising Online For Your Blog?

Maintaining a blog in conjunction with your online business is becoming more and more imperative. If you want to succeed online, it’s necessary to branch out and offer as much word as you can. And as with your online business, you must have effective local advertising online. “Strong banner advertising on your blog is the ticket,” suggests Jared Lansky.

Lansky upholds using banner advertising on your blog can prove extremely profitable if done right. The first step is to utilize AdSense. AdSense has been around for quite some time and is a quality company for banner advertising. Your potential income will be based on the number of people who visit your blog with AdSense.

Another company that you should look into to beef up your blog with banner advertising is AdBrite. AdBrite is a cpm company, which is an advertising company based on impressions per thousand. They offer banner advertising that allows you to use html code which makes it easy to place banner ads on your blog.

The great thing about AdBrite is visitors do not even have to click on your banner for you to get paid. All that needs to occur is visitors have to see your banner. As soon as they see your banner, you will get paid.
